Is there a private OCR and QR code app for iPhone with no ads?
Yes. ToolzPad has ScanZ for camera OCR (with a language picker that includes Indonesian) and QRZ to create and scan QR codes. Files are processed on your device, and there are no ads and no tracking. It is not fully offline: it checks the App Store for updates, verifies your purchase with Apple, and PingZ uses the network when you run it.
As of 29 Oct 2026
ScanZ: camera OCR
- Reads text from a photo or the camera.
- Table detection, object count and EXIF metadata.
- Language picker: Auto plus 11 languages, including Indonesian.
QRZ: create and scan QR codes
Make a QR code or scan one with the camera. You can add an optional logo in the center.
What goes over the network
The tools process your files on your device. The app uses the network for the App Store update check, purchase verification with Apple, and PingZ when you run it. We do not claim that nothing ever leaves the device. See the Privacy page.
Compared with free apps
QR Scanner: No Ads. Just Works is free and shows no rating yet. QuickScan is free with 4.91 from 4,078 US ratings (App Store US, 29 Oct 2026). Both are free to download; ToolzPad is $9.99 once and new, with no ratings yet. Check each app's store page for its current plans.
What it does not do
- No cloud sync.
- DocZ makes PDFs from images; it is not a full document-scanning workflow.
- iPhone only for this guide; the Mac app has its own screen OCR (TextScanz).
